Quality Improvement Lead – Infection Control

Join a Care Quality Team, reporting to the Head of Quality Improvement in this Infection Control role. You will contribute to a proactive and robust clinical governance and quality assurance framework that enables our client to measure and continuously improve the compliance and quality of services. We’re looking for an expert advisor on infection prevention and control so you must have knowledge of clinical governance, legislative requirements and national/local policies.

As such you will have:
• A qualification in Infection Control and Prevention and possibly be a qualified Nurse (current registration not essential).
• Working knowledge of Care Quality Commission Regulations, Mental Capacity Act, Health and Safety, Safeguarding and all other relevant legislation and policies
• Clear understanding of the Care Act and its implications
• Experience of working in healthcare or social care sector
• Have worked in a multisite organisation previously
We are looking for a highly motivated experienced professional who has an understanding and experience of quality assurance processes and current experience in improving practice in infection prevention and control.

Duties of this role include:
• To ensure Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is addressed in all areas of the Trust and reflected throughout all activity related to healthcare provision.
• Taking accountability for infection prevention all new business, new build and refurbishment.
• Ensuring compliance to the HCAI code (DH 2010) for CQC requirements
• To provide advice on the purchase, introduction and use of equipment in relation to IPC issues.
• To support in local waste management but especially in the management of the clinical waste stream.

You will need to have excellent communication and influencing skills and work in collaboration with Trust managers, senior managers and external professionals in ensuring best practice and continuous improvement is embedded across our services.

The location for this role is flexible in one of the regions (Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Lincolnshire or Wiltshire) and can be home or office based. You will need a full, clean driving licence, as the role involves travel and overnight stays on occasion.
