Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) – Southend-on-Sea

An innovative and forward-thinking practice in Southend-on-Sea is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join its well-established primary care team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, autonomous, and patient-focused clinician looking to play a key role in delivering high-quality care within a progressive and supportive healthcare environment.

The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team dedicated to continuous improvement, innovation, and achieving outstanding patient outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to work at the top of your clinical scope, contributing to both acute care and long-term condition management, while supporting the ongoing development of practice services.

Position Overview

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, providing advanced, evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients presenting with a wide range of undifferentiated, acute, and chronic conditions.

This role requires a high level of clinical expertise, strong decision-making ability, and confidence to work independently, alongside effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. You will manage your own clinical workload, including urgent and same-day presentations, ensuring timely access to care for patients.

A strong emphasis is placed on patient-centred care, health promotion, and preventative medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients with complex and undifferentiated conditions
  • Prescribe medications independently in line with practice formulary, national guidelines, and best clinical practice
  • Manage a wide range of presentations, including urgent/on-the-day appointments, minor illness, chronic disease reviews, and long-term condition management
  • Request, interpret, and act on diagnostic investigations, including pathology results and imaging
  • Provide health promotion, screening, and patient education to support prevention and self-management
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to ensure holistic patient care
  • Maintain accurate, clear, and contemporaneous clinical records in line with professional and regulatory standards
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and service development within the practice
