Deputy Manager – Care Home

Preston, Lancashire | £35,000 – £45,000 per annum

Are you an experienced Deputy Manager with a genuine passion for providing high-quality care to older people?

We are recruiting for a Deputy Manager to join a well-established elderly care home in Preston, Lancashire, supporting the day-to-day management of a warm and supportive residential care environment.

The home provides care for elderly residents, including those living with mild dementia, and we are looking for an experienced care professional who can lead by example and help ensure residents receive outstanding care and support.

The Role

As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to oversee the smooth and effective running of the home. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting staff, and ensuring residents' wellbeing remains at the heart of everything we do.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day management of the home
  • Leading, motivating and supporting the care team
  • Ensuring consistently high standards of person-centred care
  • Supporting care planning, medication management and safeguarding procedures
  • Monitoring compliance with CQC and company standards
  • Building positive relationships with residents, relatives and colleagues
  • Supporting staff development, supervision and training
  • Assisting with audits, inspections and quality improvement initiatives
  • Acting as a senior point of contact within the home when required

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Proven experience working in elderly care
  • Previous experience in a senior care or management position
  • Strong knowledge of person-centred care and safeguarding
  • Experience supporting residents with mild dementia is desirable
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • A compassionate, professional and hands-on approach
  • The ability to lead a team while maintaining high standards of care
  • NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Adult Care is highly desirable, or a willingness to work towards it

What's on Offer

Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
