Deputy Manager – Residential Children's Home

Location: Castleford, WF10 
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on qualifications
Sleep-ins: £60 per sleep-in, with an average of 8 sleep-ins per month

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the effective day-to-day management of the children's home.
  • Help shape and maintain a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment for children and young people.
  • Support the development of a positive, child-centred culture across the home.
  • Lead, supervise and support the residential care team, promoting high standards of practice.
  • Help develop staff and encourage continuous professional development.
  • Ensure children with EBD, trauma and complex needs receive consistent, high-quality care.
  • Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through a therapeutic and person-centred approach.
  • Support the Registered Manager in maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations, expectations and best practice.
  • Provide effective leadership and guidance to staff and act as a positive role model.
  • Support safeguarding and ensure the welfare and individual needs of children remain paramount.
  • Work collaboratively with the Registered Manager and wider professional network to ensure children receive appropriate support.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the home.

Requirements & Experience

  • Minimum of two years' experience within a residential children's home within the last five years.
  • Minimum of 12 months' supervisory experience within a children's residential care setting.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
  • In-depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations, expectations and best practice.
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic and person-centred approaches to childcare.
  • Experience supporting children with EBD, trauma and complex needs is essential.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Full right to work in the UK without restrictions.
  • Applicants must be aged 21 or above due to industry regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting positive outcomes for children and young people.
