Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Care

Location: Doncaster DN11
Salary: £33,904 per year
Hours: Full-time – 174 hours per month, including shifts, administration and paid on-call duties

What We're Looking For

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it.
  • Level 3 in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards where applicable.
  • Experience as a Senior, Team Leader or Deputy Manager within a children’s home or supported accommodation setting.
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and local resources available to young people.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider management team.
  • Empathy, patience and a genuine commitment to the welfare and development of young people.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support and deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
  • Provide strong leadership, supervision and support to the staff team.
  • Promote teamwork, professional development and a child-centred culture.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation, safety, maintenance and resources of the home.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, legislation, policies and quality standards.
  • Support Ofsted inspections, audits and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the safety, welfare and positive development of young people.
  • Oversee assessments, care and support plans, progress monitoring and critical incidents.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Identify training needs and support staff development, performance and recruitment.
  • Manage staffing levels, rotas and scheduling.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance systems and support Regulation 44 visits.
  • Manage budgets, expenditure and effective resource allocation.
  • Maintain positive relationships with local authorities, professionals, community organisations and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with senior management to continually improve outcomes for young people.
