Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Derby, DE23
Salary: £35,620 per annum
Home Size: 2 Bed EBD
Salary & Benefits
- £35,620 per annum
- Sleep-in payments in addition to the basic salary.
- Eligibility for performance-related pay.
- £750 Ofsted Good bonus
- £1,500 Ofsted Outstanding bonus
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in achieving and maintaining a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.
- Support the day-to-day operational management of the home.
- Provide supervision, support and direction to staff.
- Assist with staff deployment, rotas and maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Ensure staffing arrangements meet the Statement of Purpose and individual risk management plans.
- Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the physical and emotional needs of children and young people are protected, safeguarded and promoted.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of care, education and risk management plans.
- Monitor the home using the Social Care Common Inspection Framework and internal auditing processes.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating integrity, optimism, hope, determination and compassion.
- Support the development of a positive, child-centred and therapeutic environment.
- Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, local authority procedures and company policies.
- Support staff performance, development and professional practice.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, professionals and external stakeholders.
- Assist with identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate action plans.
- Support the Registered Manager with the overall operation and development of the home.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working within children’s residential care, including supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
- Good understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Ability to make informed decisions, provide direction and lead by example.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage, monitor and improve staff and service performance.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage conflict effectively.
- High level of resilience and professionalism.
- Genuine commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
- Level 4 Diploma in Leadership & Management, or willingness to work towards it.
- Designated Safeguarding Lead Level 3, or willingness to work towards it.
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
