Successful Applicants

  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people in residential care
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care, including at least 1 year in a managerial or supervisory role within the last 5 years
  • Level 3/4 qualification in Children’s Residential Care or Children’s Workforce (essential)
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (preferred at application stage, or willingness to enrol within 6 months)
  • Strong understanding of The Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, SCCIF, Ofsted requirements, and wider childcare legislation
  • Experience supporting children with emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties, including trauma-informed and behaviour management approaches
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in planning, organisation, and team development
  • Experience in budget management, resource allocation, and operational oversight
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including report writing and professional correspondence
  • Full UK driving licence

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a 5-bed Ofsted-registered residential children’s home supporting young people aged 8–18
  • Ensure each young person has a comprehensive, individualised care plan covering emotional, educational, social, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing staff team in partnership with recruitment and HR teams
  • Ensure effective induction, supervision, and ongoing professional development for all staff
  • Promote a culture of participation, ensuring young people are actively involved in decisions about their care
  • Allocate Key Workers and ensure consistent implementation of individual care plans
  • Maintain high-quality care standards in line with regulatory requirements and the Home’s Statement of Purpose
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding, complaints, and child protection concerns, ensuring timely and appropriate action
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and external professionals to support positive outcomes for young people
  • Attend and actively contribute to care planning meetings, reviews, and multi-agency discussions
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that supports each young person to reach their full potential
  • Ensure effective financial and operational management of the home in line with agreed budgets and performance expectations
