Children’s Services Registered Manager – Intake & Assessment

Location: Acocks Green, Birmingham
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (DOE)
Home Size: New Intake & Assessment Children’s Home (EBD)

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care (essential)
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (preferred), or willingness to enrol within 6 months of starting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care
  • At least 1 year’s experience in a supervisory role within the last 5 years
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, SCCIF and childcare legislation
  • Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (EBD)
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and managing challenging behaviour
  • Strong leadership, organisational and budget management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build and develop a high-performing residential team
  • Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people in care
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the opening and registration of a new Intake & Assessment children’s home
  • Develop and implement comprehensive, child-centred care plans
  • Build, lead and develop a high-quality residential staff team
  • Oversee recruitment, induction, supervision and staff development
  • Ensure children receive safe, nurturing and high-quality care at all times
  • Establish systems for consulting with young people about the care they receive
  • Allocate and oversee Key Workers for each child
  • Maintain high standards of care in line with the home’s Statement of Purpose and regulatory requirements
  • Manage safeguarding concerns, complaints and child protection matters effectively
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, social workers and other professionals
  • Chair and contribute to care planning and review meetings
  • Promote a positive, trauma-informed and child-centred culture throughout the home
  • Ensure the home achieves and maintains at least a Good Ofsted rating
  • Manage the home effectively within agreed budget and commercial expectations
  • Maintain accurate records, reports and compliance documentation
