Children’s Services Registered Manager – Intake & Assessment
Location: Acocks Green, Birmingham
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (DOE)
Home Size: New Intake & Assessment Children’s Home (EBD)

What We’re Looking For
- Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care (essential)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (preferred), or willingness to enrol within 6 months of starting
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care
- At least 1 year’s experience in a supervisory role within the last 5 years
- Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, SCCIF and childcare legislation
- Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (EBD)
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice and managing challenging behaviour
- Strong leadership, organisational and budget management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build and develop a high-performing residential team
- Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people in care
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the opening and registration of a new Intake & Assessment children’s home
- Develop and implement comprehensive, child-centred care plans
- Build, lead and develop a high-quality residential staff team
- Oversee recruitment, induction, supervision and staff development
- Ensure children receive safe, nurturing and high-quality care at all times
- Establish systems for consulting with young people about the care they receive
- Allocate and oversee Key Workers for each child
- Maintain high standards of care in line with the home’s Statement of Purpose and regulatory requirements
- Manage safeguarding concerns, complaints and child protection matters effectively
- Work in partnership with parents, carers, social workers and other professionals
- Chair and contribute to care planning and review meetings
- Promote a positive, trauma-informed and child-centred culture throughout the home
- Ensure the home achieves and maintains at least a Good Ofsted rating
- Manage the home effectively within agreed budget and commercial expectations
- Maintain accurate records, reports and compliance documentation
