Registered Manager – Brand New Children's Residential Home

Location: Manchester, M33
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience
Home Size: Solo-placement children's home supporting young people with EBD
Start Date: June 2027 onwards

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in children's residential home leadership
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted requirements, Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and relevant statutory guidance
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a stable and effective staff team
  • Experience managing rotas, staffing levels and budgets
  • Strong organisational, communication and decision-making skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience supporting children and young people with EBD and complex behaviours is desirable
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches is desirable
  • Genuine commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people
  • A strong, proactive leader who is excited by the opportunity to establish and shape a brand-new service

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the registration, leadership and day-to-day management of the brand-new solo-placement children's home
  • Lead the home through the Ofsted registration process and prepare the service for opening
  • Establish a safe, nurturing and high-quality child-centred environment from day one
  • Maintain full compliance with Ofsted requirements, Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Promote a strong safeguarding culture and ensure the welfare of children and young people remains paramount
  • Recruit, lead, support and develop a stable and motivated staff team
  • Establish a positive and therapeutic culture across the home
  • Manage staffing levels, rotas and resources effectively
  • Oversee budgets and ensure the home operates effectively within agreed financial parameters
  • Develop, implement and regularly review care plans and risk assessments
  • Complete audits, quality assurance checks and monitoring activity
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement effective action plans
  • Build strong and professional relationships with Local Authorities, families, social workers and other external professionals
  • Work collaboratively with the wider professional network to ensure children receive consistent and holistic support
  • Monitor outcomes for children and ensure their individual needs, wishes and feelings remain central to care
  • Drive continuous improvement and maintain high standards throughout the service
  • Lead by example and create a culture where children feel safe, valued and supported
  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to support the continued growth and development of the organisation
