Location: Derby, DE23
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum + performance-related pay
Home Size: 2 Bed EBD

What We're Looking For
- Previous experience working within residential childcare, including supervisory or management experience
- Strong knowledge of the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and relevant safeguarding legislation
- Knowledge of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 and Local Authority procedures
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it
- Designated Safeguarding Lead Level 3, or willingness to complete the qualification
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Proven ability to lead, manage and develop a staff team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage and improve performance and service quality
- Experience overseeing staffing, staff deployment and allocation of responsibilities
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
- Confident in managing conflict and providing clear direction
- High levels of resilience, integrity and professionalism
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, professionals and external stakeholders
- Genuine commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people
- Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check and meet all relevant registration requirements
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the effective day-to-day management and operation of the children's home
- Ensure the home operates in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and Function
- Maintain high standards of care and work towards achieving and maintaining an Ofsted rating of Good or Outstanding
- Monitor the quality of care through internal auditing, quality assurance and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework
- Lead, supervise, support and develop the staff team
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating integrity, optimism, hope, determination and compassion
- Ensure the physical and emotional needs of children and young people are protected, safeguarded and promoted at all times
- Ensure children's care, education and risk management plans are effectively implemented and regularly reviewed
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times, in line with the individual needs and risk management plans of each child
- Allocate duties and responsibilities effectively across the staff team
- Oversee staff deployment and provide clear day-to-day direction and supervision
- Monitor team and individual performance, identifying areas for development and improvement
- Ensure the home remains compliant with the Children's Homes Regulations (England) 2015, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, Local Authority procedures and organisational policies
- Manage resources and budgets effectively to support high-quality care
- Build and maintain strong relationships with children, families, the local community and external professionals
- Make informed decisions and provide confident leadership during challenging situations
- Drive continuous improvement across the home and ensure high standards of care are consistently maintained
