Children’s Home Registered Manager

Location: Accrington & Bury
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, including bonus
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of the children’s residential home.
  • Lead, motivate, develop and support a strong residential care team.
  • Create a warm, nurturing and supportive environment where children and young people can thrive.
  • Ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children remains the highest priority.
  • Promote independence, life skills and positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Ensure the home operates in full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain high standards of care and ensure the home can evidence effective practice.
  • Lead by example and ensure a therapeutic approach is embedded throughout the home.
  • Organise staffing patterns and ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained.
  • Facilitate staff training, development and professional practice.
  • Ensure children have access to appropriate services and support.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, social workers, local authorities and other professionals.
  • Monitor the quality of care provided and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain effective safeguarding arrangements and promote a strong safeguarding culture.
  • Support the registration and ongoing development of the home.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within residential childcare.
  • Experience working with children and young people with challenging behaviours, including mental health and behavioural difficulties.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children’s and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent.
  • QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it.
  • Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  • Good understanding of the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004 and other relevant legislation.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Ability to build, develop and support a high-performing staff team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Genuine commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Full UK driving licence.
