Registered Manager – Children’s Home

Location: Rochdale OL11
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 per annum, depending on experience
Home: New specialist pre-permanence children’s home

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience within children’s residential care.
  • Strong management experience within an Ofsted-regulated children’s home, ideally as a Registered Manager.
  • Proven track record of achieving strong regulatory outcomes, ideally Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings.
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, safeguarding requirements and Ofsted expectations.
  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or ability to achieve the required qualification within the regulatory timeframe.
  • Experience and suitability to register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to recruit, develop and retain a stable, high-performing team.
  • Experience opening and/or registering a new children’s home would be highly advantageous.
  • Passion for supporting children with complex needs and helping them progress towards positive long-term outcomes.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, Ofsted registration and opening of the new Rochdale children’s home.
  • Recruit, lead and develop a stable, capable and high-performing staff team.
  • Establish a safe, predictable and nurturing environment with consistently high standards of care.
  • Ensure strong safeguarding, regulatory compliance and ongoing readiness for Ofsted inspection.
  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of the home.
  • Oversee staffing, occupancy, quality assurance and responsible financial management.
  • Support children to develop confidence, emotional regulation, relationships, routines and everyday skills in preparation for fostering.
  • Deliver a child-centred pre-permanence service focused on stability, consistency and positive relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with local authorities, social workers, fostering professionals, families and other professionals.
  • Ensure transitions from residential care into fostering are carefully planned and focused on the individual needs of each child.
  • Maintain high standards of care and drive continuous improvement across the service.
  • Build a strong culture within the home that supports positive outcomes and long-term stability.
