Residential Support Worker

Location: Thorne, Doncaster (DN8)
Salary: £24,336 per annum (28-hour contract) | £33,696 per annum (32-hour contract)
Home Size: Children's Residential Homes

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children and young people in a residential setting (preferred)
  • Positive, resilient and empathetic approach to supporting children and young people
  • Passion for making a positive difference to the lives of children with complex needs
  • Ability to build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model
  • Experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism or Learning Disabilities (desirable)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) (preferred), or willingness to complete a fully funded qualification
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations
  • Full UK Driving Licence held for at least 12 months (preferred)
  • Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available for this position)
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check and online safeguarding checks

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people within a residential setting
  • Build positive, trusting relationships and support young people through their day-to-day lives
  • Promote positive outcomes, independence and emotional wellbeing
  • Support children during challenging situations using a calm, therapeutic approach
  • Assist with daily routines, personal care and recreational activities where required
  • Complete care records, reports and other residential documentation accurately
  • Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming home environment
  • Carry out household duties, including cleaning and laundry, while modelling positive life skills
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to meet each young person's individual needs
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times
  • Work flexibly across day, night and weekend shifts as part of a rota
