A welcoming GP practice in Nottingham is looking for a compassionate and experienced Lead Practice Nurse to join and guide their dedicated nursing team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a nurse who’s passionate about making a real difference in the lives of patients and enjoys working in a close-knit, supportive environment.

The Lead Nurse will play a key part in ensuring high standards of care, offering guidance and clinical leadership to fellow nurses and healthcare assistants. They’ll work closely with GPs, the wider clinical team, and the practice management to keep services running smoothly and efficiently.

What the Role Involves

  • Leading and supporting the nursing team, sharing knowledge and helping others grow.

  • Overseeing clinics for long-term conditions like diabetes, asthma, and heart disease.

  • Carrying out a range of essential duties including vaccinations, cervical smears, wound care, and health checks.

  • Making sure patients feel listened to, respected, and well-cared-for in every interaction.

  • Supporting staff training, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical audits.

  • Contributing ideas for how the practice can keep improving patient care.

  • Helping manage daily clinical tasks and lending a hand wherever needed.

What They're Looking For

  • A qualified and registered nurse (NMC) with experience in general practice or community healthcare.

  • Someone with a friendly, approachable manner and excellent leadership skills.

  • Confident in managing long-term conditions and running nurse-led clinics.

  • Passionate about providing high-quality care and empowering patients to manage their health.

  • Organised, flexible, and able to work well in a team.

  • Competent with IT systems (like EMIS or SystmOne) and clinical record-keeping.

  • Up to date with mandatory training and safeguarding.

Desirable but Not Essential

  • A prescribing qualification or additional training in chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, respiratory).

  • Experience supporting Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.

What They Offer

  • A competitive salary, tailored to experience and qualifications (Band 6/7 equivalent).

  • A warm, supportive team who value each other’s contributions.

  • Flexible working pattern and family-friendly policies.

  • NHS pension scheme or equivalent.

  • Generous annual leave (6 weeks plus bank holidays).

  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
