About the School

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a brand-new specialist school in Erith, dedicated to supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The school will cater to 15-18 students aged between 8-17, providing a nurturing and inclusive environment to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Head Teacher to lead our school from inception, shaping its vision, ethos, and curriculum. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with experience in SEN education, able to develop and implement high-quality teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and establishment of the school, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment.
• Develop and implement an effective curriculum tailored to the needs of students with SEN.
• Recruit, train, and manage a team of skilled and motivated staff.
• Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to support student progress and well-being.
• Ensure the school meets all regulatory and safeguarding requirements.
• Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning standards to ensure outstanding student outcomes.
• Foster a positive school culture that promotes student confidence, independence, and resilience.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) or willingness to undertake.
• Proven experience as a senior leader within an SEN setting.
• Extensive knowledge of SEN strategies, EHCPs, and relevant legislation.
• Experience in school development, curriculum design, and strategic leadership.
• Strong ability to build relationships with students, parents, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Attributes
• Experience in opening or developing a new school or SEN provision.
• A forward-thinking approach to inclusive education.
• Ability to inspire and lead a team with enthusiasm and vision
