Children's Home Deputy Manager

Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 dependent on experience 
Location: Burton-on-Trent, DE13
Home Size: 3-Bed EBD

What We're Looking For

  • Recent experience in a Senior, Team Leader or Deputy Manager role within children's residential care
  • QCF/NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, Children and Young People's Services
  • Experience supporting children and young people with EBD
  • Strong track record of delivering high-quality residential care
  • Effective leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, care planning and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to support, mentor and develop residential care staff
  • Confidence taking responsibility for the home in the Registered Manager's absence
  • Genuine passion for achieving positive outcomes for children and young people

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the established 3-bed EBD home
  • Take responsibility for the home in the Registered Manager's absence
  • Ensure children receive safe, consistent and high-quality care
  • Support care reviews, team meetings and planning sessions
  • Lead staff inductions and provide supervision, mentoring and performance support
  • Support the development and implementation of care plans and risk assessments
  • Promote safeguarding and ensure concerns are appropriately managed and escalated
  • Support staff to deliver child-centred, nurturing and therapeutic care
  • Monitor standards of practice, records and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work closely with the Registered Manager to maintain and improve quality standards
  • Build positive relationships with children, families and external professionals
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across the home
  • Support the development of the staff team and positive outcomes for children and young people
