Description

Deputy Children’s Home Manager – Preston

Salary: £34,000 – £39,000 per annum (plus £60 per sleep-in)
Location: Preston, PR2
Size of Home: Dual home supporting 2 young people (therapeutic placements)
Hours: 2 days on, 4 days off (includes sleep-ins) – 365-day rota (issued in advance)

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a residential children’s home (within the last 5 years)
  • At least 12 months’ supervisory experience in a children’s residential care setting
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent/higher)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, expectations, and best practice
  • Must be aged 21 or over due to regulatory requirements
  • Experience working in a therapeutic, child-centred environment
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection frameworks

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the daily running of the children’s home
  • Lead shifts and supervise staff to ensure high standards of care
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, Ofsted regulations, and internal policies
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Promote independence, life skills, and positive outcomes for young people
  • Deliver and support care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, reporting, and documentation is maintained
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies including social workers, therapists, and local authorities
  • Manage incidents effectively, including de-escalation and crisis intervention
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment at all times
