Children's Residential Deputy Manager

Location: Haigh, near Wigan (WN1)
Salary: £37,259 per annum + £78.30 per sleep-in

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you'll help lead a dedicated team, create a safe and supportive environment, and ensure children receive the highest standard of care. This is primarily an office-hours position, although flexibility is required as part of the home's leadership team.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory or similar role within children's residential care
  • Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Children's Residential Care or Children's Workforce
  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Experience supervising and supporting teams of residential support workers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to produce reports and updates for senior management
  • Confident using electronic care recording systems and digital platforms
  • Ability to mentor, coach and develop team members
  • Flexible approach to working patterns when required
  • Passion for supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Ability to build positive relationships with both young people and colleagues

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home
  • Lead, supervise and develop Senior Support Workers and residential teams
  • Ensure children receive exceptional care, support and opportunities to thrive
  • Take responsibility for the service in the Manager's absence
  • Promote a child-centred approach that recognises each young person's individual needs
  • Monitor staff performance and identify training and development needs
  • Maintain a warm, welcoming and nurturing home environment
  • Build meaningful relationships with children, offering guidance and emotional support
  • Encourage participation in activities, outings and experiences that support development and wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation using digital care systems
  • Contribute to creating a safe, stable and positive home where children can flourish
