About the Role:
As Registered Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the children’s home, ensuring it meets all regulatory requirements and delivers high-quality, child-centred care. Working closely with external agencies, families and internal stakeholders, you will drive continuous improvement and maintain the home’s Ofsted rating.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the operational management of the home, ensuring a safe, caring and structured environment for all children and young people.
* Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards, preparing for and responding to inspections.
* Oversee safeguarding and child protection practices, ensuring concerns are identified, reported and managed in line with policies and statutory guidance.
* Recruit, supervise, coach and performance-manage staff, conducting regular supervisions, appraisals and team meetings.
* Develop and implement individualised care plans and risk assessments in collaboration with the team and external professionals.
* Monitor and manage budgets, occupancy levels and resources to ensure the home is efficient, sustainable and delivering value.
* Maintain accurate records, reports and documentation to evidential standards, including incident reporting and regulatory returns.
* Drive a culture of continuous improvement, using feedback, audits and data to enhance the quality of care and outcomes for children.

Key Requirements:
* Proven experience managing or deputy managing a children’s residential home or similar setting.
* Strong safeguarding and child protection knowledge, with the ability to lead safe practice and respond to concerns effectively.
* Demonstrable leadership and team management skills, including staff supervision, coaching and performance management.
* In-depth understanding of Ofsted requirements, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
* Ability to manage budgets, occupancy and resources in a residential care environment.
* Excellent communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills, with resilience under pressure.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, delegate and meet deadlines.

Desirable Skills:
* Experience improving or maintaining a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating.
* Background in therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches within children’s services.
* Experience working with children with complex needs, emotional and behavioural difficulties or similar profiles.
* Familiarity with digital care recording systems and data reporting tools.

Qualifications:
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent (or working towards with relevant experience).
* Relevant Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development in safeguarding, child protection and leadership.
* Full UK driving licence is preferred.
