Senior Residential Child Care Worker – Doncaster

Salary: up to £31,320 basic 
Location: Doncaster, DN11 
Home: NEW 3 Bed EBD 
Hours: 174 hours per month | Sleep-ins 23:00–07:00 on a 3-week rolling rota

Salary & Benefits

  • £14.50–£15.00 per hour
  • Paid sleep-ins at £71.28 
  • Paid on-call duties: £20 Monday–Thursday and £40 Friday–Sunday

What We're Looking For

  • QCF Level 3 in Residential Childcare (essential)
  • QCF Level 4 or Level 5 (desirable)
  • Experience working with children and young people in residential care or childcare
  • At least 1 year of relevant residential experience
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate colleagues
  • Good understanding of child development, attachment and trauma-informed care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and safeguarding procedures
  • Ability to manage crises, resolve conflict and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to shift work, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Applicants must be aged 21 or over
  • Legal right to work in the UK

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and provide guidance, support and mentoring to residential care staff
  • Act as a positive role model and promote high-quality, child-centred care
  • Support the development and implementation of individual care plans and support strategies
  • Oversee day-to-day care, activities and routines within the home
  • Monitor and record young people's progress, behaviour, wellbeing and significant incidents
  • Support team meetings, training and professional development
  • Create a positive, therapeutic and inclusive environment where young people feel safe and supported
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with young people and promote positive relationship skills
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and therapeutic interventions
  • Work with external professionals, therapists and agencies to meet young people's needs
  • Ensure safeguarding, risk assessment and health & safety procedures are followed
  • Maintain high standards of care, compliance and record keeping
  • Keep up to date with best practice and developments in residential childcare
  • Attend relevant training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills
