Occupational Health Technician
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £26,000–£27,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
About the role
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Occupational Health Technicians to join a growing peripatetic team.
You’ll travel to client sites in a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU), carrying out health surveillance assessments and supporting the wider occupational health team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in occupational health, with a 4-week training and induction programme, ongoing mentoring and full support from an experienced team.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver health surveillance assessments including audiometry and lung function testing
- Carry out baseline checks including height, weight, blood pressure and urinalysis
- Accurately record clinical and screening information
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and equipment check within the MMU
- Provide accurate biometric information to support clinical decision-making
- Support health promotion activities and wider occupational health services
- Work independently while maintaining strong communication with the wider clinical team
About you
We’re looking for someone who is organised, confident and comfortable working independently. You’ll need excellent communication skills, good attention to detail and the ability to manage your workload effectively while working to deadlines.
Previous experience as a Healthcare Support Worker, Emergency Care Assistant, Ambulance Technician, Ambulance Assistant, Emergency Care Technician or Army Medic would be beneficial.
We would also welcome applications from Sports Science graduates looking to start a career in occupational health, provided you have experience carrying out baseline health measurements.
A good understanding of GDPR, confidentiality and health surveillance is essential.
Essential requirements
- Valid manual UK driving licence
- Held a driving licence for at least 12 months
- Aged 21 or over
- Comfortable with regular travel and overnight stays
- Able to park the MMU at or near your home overnight
- Able to provide a DVLA licence share code
Please note: During the initial period of employment, you may need to use your own vehicle or a company-provided hire car until your company van is available.
Travel and overnight stays
This is a genuinely mobile role. You should be comfortable being away from home for approximately 3 weeks out of every 4, although you will return home on Fridays for the weekend.
