About the Role

We are seeking an organised, knowledgeable, and proactive Prescribing Technician to join our forward-thinking clinical team. This role is ideal for a qualified Pharmacy Technician with experience in prescription processing, medicines optimisation, and primary care workflows. You will work closely with GPs, pharmacists, the multidisciplinary team, and administrative staff to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient prescribing processes within the practice.

The successful candidate will play a key role in improving the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of prescribing across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Support the repeat prescribing and medicines management processes, ensuring all prescriptions are accurate, safe, and compliant with clinical guidance.

Undertake prescription reviews, synchronisation, and switches in line with practice protocols and pharmacist/GP direction.

Manage and resolve prescription queries from patients, clinicians, and community pharmacies.

Support medicines reconciliation following hospital discharge, outpatient appointments, and clinical communications.

Contribute to audits, medication safety reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.

Assist the team in achieving prescribing targets and implementing cost-effective prescribing strategies.

Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with practice and regulatory standards.

Provide patient-facing advice on medication queries within scope of practice.

Work collaboratively with pharmacists, GPs, and the wider MDT to streamline workflows and enhance patient care.

About You

Registered Pharmacy Technician (GPhC).

Experience in a GP practice, PCN, or NHS prescribing environment is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of prescribing processes, medicines management, and primary care systems.

Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.

Able to manage a high volume of tasks while maintaining professional standards.

Confident communicator, able to work with patients, clinicians, and external stakeholders.

Comfortable using clinical systems (EMIS / SystmOne / Vision) and digital prescribing tools.
